November 17, 2018November 17, 2018Leave a comment

Day 15: Today we drove south from Richmond, through Newport News and the Virginia Beach area to get on the 23-mile bridge-tunnel crossing at the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay that would connect us to the Eastern Shore of Virginia. From there, we headed north up the eastern seashore to Chincoteague Island. It was cold … Continue reading Summer 2018 RVing: Week 3

Day 8: Today we woke up really early to be down to the University before 8am for the 5th grade long term performance. They were performing under the category of "Classics: Mockumentary." They took Alice in Wonderland and rewrote the story into an 8 minute "spoof." All the scripting, costumes, props, etc had to be … Continue reading Summer 2018 RVing: Week 2

And just like that, a whole year came and went! We had our trip planned months ago, and then we had to move the timetable up by nearly two weeks. Our son and his team took first place in the State of Arizona Odyssey of the Mind Competition, which meant they were moving on to … Continue reading Summer 2018 RVing: Week 1

Summer 2017 RVing Recap: California

April 29, 2018April 29, 20182 Comments

Day 57: Of all 50 states, we have undoubtedly spent the most time RVing in our sister state of California. It's "our" beach and vacation-land away from home. San Diego is about 6 hours from where we live so it makes it an easy place to head, even if you only have a few days. … Continue reading Summer 2017 RVing Recap: California

Summer 2017 RVing Recap: Coastal Oregon

Day 51: Today we left Vancouver and Canada and crossed back into the lower 48. The Port of Entry into Blaine, WA was crowded, but border patrol moved the cars through quickly and efficiently. The hardest part was driving through the very narrow lanes with our rv! We had planned on spending a few days … Continue reading Summer 2017 RVing Recap: Coastal Oregon

Happy ALMOST spring, friends!! We're still here- busy as can be- and can't believe it's been almost 3 months since an update! With three kids in endless school activities, after school clubs, and the bustle of the holidays, time has been in fast forward lately. And we've put SUMMER 2018 in the books and it's … Continue reading We’re still here and we’ve got a BIG summer planned!

Summer 2017 RVing Recap: Vancouver, BC

This is a little of week 7 and the beginning of our 8th week on the road together in one post because it seemed easier to just do one big post about one of my favorite cities in Canada...Vancouver! Day 48: The sky seemed to be more clear today as we hit the road. We … Continue reading Summer 2017 RVing Recap: Vancouver, BC

Day 43: We awoke excited to be in Skagway, and ready to explore more of the surrounding areas! We thought a good way to live like a local would be to travel like a local - by ferry! Many cities on the west side of Alaska are faster to reach by water, so ferry transportation … Continue reading Summer 2017 RVing Recap: Week 7

Day 36: We woke up in one of the most beautiful campgrounds we've ever stayed. Williwaw is surrounded by gorgeous mountains and glaciers! We wanted to take the time today to see all the things in this area that we passed the first time around in our RV because it's easier to get in and … Continue reading Summer 2017 RVing Recap: Week 6

Summer 2017 RVing Recap: Week 5

Day 29: It was late when we pulled off from the Turnagain Arm the night before. Alaska has very liberal camping laws. Basically, as long as there is no signage that states "No overnight parking" you are welcome to camp there. It's a very RV friendly state. I woke up, opened the shade to the … Continue reading Summer 2017 RVing Recap: Week 5

Welcome!

Hi! I’m Tamie, mom to four with an incurable desire to travel. We want to see the whole world, but for now we’ll settle for seeing all of the US and Canada in our RV! Thanks for taking the time to stop by!

We had so much fun outdoor ice skating over the weekend! Living in "the valley of the sun" you get used to trying to get into the Christmas spirit in 80 degree weather. This year, we have had an exceptionally large amount of cool, cloudy and rainy days and we are eating it up!
Happy Halloween! Another amazing year, with Dwight K. Schrute enforcing the rules, Tris Prior kicking ass with the help of our Police woman, and Elsa on backup to freeze any remaining bad guys. We celebrated with wonderful family and friends and took the neighborhood by storm.
I love the fact that my kids are at an age where they come up with their own costumes and blow me away with their creativity and sense of humor! Aubrey likes to emulate her favorite book heroines- this year taking on Tris Prior from The Divergent series, and Nicholas...well, if you're not a fan of #theoffice you are missing out. Bears. Beets. Battlestar Galactica forever.
This is my baby. She has everybody in this family wrapped around her finger with her mastered "cute look." ❤ She is sweet as can be, cuddly, loveable, very inquisitive, smart, and very, VERY stubborn. (Well played, karma.) And I just want to freeze time because this is my favorite age with her!
Happy 13th birthday to my oldest and only boy! There aren't enough words on earth to describe what having you for a son means to me! I honestly hit some sort of jackpot. You make every day brighter for our family and I couldn't possibly be more proud of the young man you've grown into! We love you, Nicholas!! Here's to the start of some amazing teen years!
Fall break in California! It's the official kick off to my favorite time of year and I couldn't think of a better place to spend it with my five favorite people ❤
Last night we took our older kids to their first concert and it was one we will never forget! When the opening act had to cancel last minute, we could have just been left to wait it out, but @mumfordandsons took it to a whole new level and came out early in the most epic costumes, as the band @thesunneversetsonthecoolkids, and literally opened for themselves with a bunch of classic rock covers! It was the stuff of legends! Took my respect for those lads to a whole new level, and surely ruined all future concerts for my kiddos. 😂
Saying goodbye to the last bits of summer might be bittersweet if we lived somewhere as beautiful as the outer banks, but alas, we live in Arizona and are counting down the days until we actually see a day below 100! Fall can't come soon enough for us!!
She's 11 years old today, but this is how I still see her in my mind's eye. Six. With bright eyes of wonder and a deep love for Elsa. She still has beautiful bright eyes, but she is almost my size and so darn mature that I feel like I am the one filled with wonder. When did my little girl become such a grown up? I am so proud of all that she is and can't wait to see what she will become. But I'm not rushing it. Happy birthday to my first daughter ❤
Spent the weekend in downtown LA with just my hubby...I repeat, NO KIDS!! It was nothing short of amazing! We got to be grown ups the whole time and carry on actual conversations that weren't interrupted 500 times. We ate and played downtown, saw Mumford & Sons in concert for the first time, and had breakfast on the beach in Santa Monica. It was such an incredible way to kick off my birthday! I'm thinking maybe 37 won't be so bad, after all. ❤
Well, we can't ALL be excited about the first day of school. I think somebody is going to miss her brother and sisters terribly!
There is a reason why Yellowstone is the ultimate national park. It's so diverse, filled with amazing landscapes around every corner and so much wildlife! This is the best way I can think to close out our #rvsummer!
